I finished two very special projects this week. The first is a quilt for a very special little girl. I don't usually make girly things so it was fun working on this quilt for her. It is a simple block quilt and I finished it using red stitching and straight line quilting on both sides of each seam. It gives it a box effect. I used the red checked fabric from my City Streets collection to put the red border around the outside and for the backing. I think it coordinates really well with the Pip Squeaks fabric squares. I used two packs of 5 inch pre-cuts for the quilt top. And I did the binding in a fun star print for an added pop around the edge. I love it and I bet she will love it too!
I also finished the Scrappy Trip Quilt. This was really a fun quilt to make. I used three of my four collections for the quilt top. I backed it with the multi-colored stripe from my City Streets collection. That ties in with all the colors in the quilt. The binding on this one is just the edge of the backing brought around to the front of the quilt. I did a zig-zag stitch around the edge. I like how it turned out.
So that is what I have been sewing on. Two finished projects. Woohoo! Now on to the plans I have for my Little Surfer Boy fabric. It has been waiting patiently in the corner of my sewing room for me. I am looking forward to making some fun things with it very soon.
I hope you and your family are enjoying the summer so far. We are plenty warm down here in Texas.
